Background
Established in January 1995, in Ottawa, Ontario, the Canada China News is one of the largest Chinese weekly newspapers in Canada. It aims to open a Gateway to the large and growing Chinese-Canadian market by publishing Chinese news journals, providing translation, consulting and cultural exchange services, as well as promoting commercial, technological and educational exchanges between Canada and China.

The Large and Growing Chinese Canadian Market ---Chinese is now the third most common language spoken in Canada after English and French. The Chinese-Canadian population continues to grow rapidly in the new millennium and has now exceeded one million according to
the latest statistics.

A fundamental change has taken place in Canada's Chinese communities in recent years; marked by a population which is now highly educated and affluent, and possessing a much better ability to adapt to the Canadian way of life.

In parallel with this, many Canadian businesses, including real estate, car dealers, retailers, and service providers, have found that the Chinese have become a significant part of their clientele.

The Team Canada missions, led by Prime Minister Jean Chr¨¦tien, to China have resulted in ever more frequent exchanges at all levels between the two countries, reinforcing the ties between us.

And in all of this, the Chinese community in Canada has played, and will continue to play, an increasingly important role in the cultural and commercial development of both countries.

The Canada China News is proud to interpret the Canadian way of life as a reality for Chinese-Canadians in their own language, and will continue to enhance its publication to meet ever-changing market demands.
